Marketa Vondrousova has announced an extended break from professional tennis to focus on recovering from a persistent shoulder injury.

The 2023 Wimbledon champion has battled injury setbacks since her remarkable triumph at SW19, missing both the Paris Olympics and the US Open last year due to shoulder pain.

After making her return at the Adelaide International in January, Vondrousova was forced to retire midway through her second-round match and later withdrew from the Australian Open. She attempted another comeback in Abu Dhabi but has now decided to step away once again.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the 25-year-old wrote, “Stepping out of the court again. I am still struggling with a shoulder injury. Although it’s not easy, I now have a few months of intensive training and rehabilitation to get my arm back together.”

“Patience and time are my priorities right now, but I believe it will all be worth it. So, hopefully back on the court soon. Thank you everyone for your support.”

Marketa Vondrousova shocked the tennis world at Wimbledon when she became the first unseeded woman to win the singles title. She defeated sixth seed Ons Jabeur 6-4, 6-4 in a stunning tournament upset.

Even before her Wimbledon triumph, Vondrousova had shown her potential, reaching the French Open final in 2019 as a teenager. Though she won just four games against Ashleigh Barty in that match, her performance cemented her status as a future star.

However, her shoulder troubles seemingly began after a first-round defeat in her Wimbledon title defense last summer. Injuries have since caused her ranking to drop to No. 29 after previously reaching a career-high of No. 6.

Now, the Czech star is almost certain to miss the French Open in May and remains a major doubt for Wimbledon, which begins on June 30.

Alexis Ohanian, husband of tennis legend Serena Williams, recently shared how actress Sheryl Lee Ralph—whose net worth is estimated at $5 million by Celebrity Net Worth—quickly earned his admiration through his daughter, Olympia. Ohanian and Williams welcomed Olympia on September 1, 2017.

The Reddit co-founder has been invited to the 2025 Forbes 30/50 Summit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Scheduled from March 5 to March 8, the event will conclude with a grand celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

This summit, centered around the world’s most influential women, emphasized the importance of experience, wisdom, and leadership in achieving success.

As a Forbes 30 Under 30 alum, Ohanian was invited to share his entrepreneurial journey and insights to inspire young business leaders.

On March 6, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to reflect on his talk at the summit, highlighting the strong financial returns of investing in women’s sports. He also mentioned reconnecting with his longtime friend, actress and producer Marsai Martin.

In another post, Ohanian expressed his excitement about meeting acclaimed actress and singer Sheryl Lee Ralph, who revealed she’s a huge fan of Olympia. Deeply devoted to his daughter, he shared that anyone who adores her automatically wins his heart.
