Tottenham Hotspur are on course to miss out on Champions League qualification once again unless they secure Europa League glory. Regardless of their silverware prospects, a major squad overhaul is needed.
Spurs could reshape their attack, with Timo Werner’s loan from RB Leipzig unlikely to become permanent and Richarlison’s injury struggles casting doubt on his future.
Although Son Heung-min’s status had been uncertain, speculation about his exit has cooled recently.
According to Fichajes (via 90min), Tottenham have identified Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as their primary summer target following his outstanding season in Portugal.
The 26-year-old has registered 40 goals and 10 assists across all competitions and could be available for £63 million, though other clubs are also circling.
However, after spending over £50 million on Dominic Solanke last summer, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will splash another hefty sum on a striker.
Given Gyokeres’ ambitions of competing for trophies, he may prefer a move elsewhere.
Instead, Tottenham should prioritize signing wingers. Brennan Johnson’s right-flank position lacks depth, with Dejan Kulusevski often deployed in midfield and Wilson Odobert sidelined long-term.
Additionally, with Son Heung-min aging and both Werner and Richarlison likely to depart, bolstering the wide areas should be a clear priority.
Tottenham ‘to make big announcement imminently’ after multi-million development
Daniel Levy seems to have yet another strategic move in play at Tottenham Hotspur.
Spurs have endured a difficult season on the pitch, sitting 14th in the Premier League after suffering 15 defeats. As a result, Ange Postecoglou is under increasing pressure, with Mauricio Pochettino, Andoni Iraola, Marco Silva, and Thomas Frank all linked as potential replacements should a managerial change occur.
While uncertainty looms over the footballing side, the club’s commercial operations remain strong. According to Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail (16 March), Tottenham and INEOS have mutually agreed to terminate their sponsorship deal, originally set to run until 2027. The agreement includes a pay-off fee reportedly worth millions.
With Spurs now in search of a new sponsor, former club scout Bryan King has suggested that multiple companies will be eager to partner with the club. Meanwhile, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham has hinted that an announcement could be imminent.
“Tottenham are in the position of strength in this situation,” Wenham said.
“First of all, they’ve had three years’ worth of money out of INEOS, and now they have also got a payoff. However, they wouldn’t have let INEOS go unless they had something else lined up.
“Therefore, I’m sure we can expect a big announcement on that very soon.”
Despite the criticism Daniel Levy receives, few can dispute his expertise in the boardroom.
However, for Tottenham fans, success on the pitch remains the priority—and this season has offered little to celebrate.
Premier League | Played | GD | Points |
13. Man United | 29 | -3 | 37 |
14. Tottenham | 29 | +12 | 34 |
15. Everton | 29 | -4 | 34 |
Unless the revenue from any upcoming sponsorship deal is reinvested into strengthening the squad, supporters are unlikely to be overly concerned with off-field financial moves.
