Over the past month, speculation has continued to swirl around a possible connection between the Pittsburgh Steelers and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers.
Although Rodgers still appears to be the team’s top option, no deal has been finalized. The longer he delays a decision, the more it increases the chances that Pittsburgh may be forced to explore other options.
One such option could involve selecting a new franchise quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 24.
In line with that possibility, the Steelers are set to meet with Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord on Monday, according to a report by Fox Sports NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
McCord has been gaining attention in draft circles, with many seeing significant upside in his game. Schultz also noted that McCord is scheduled to visit the New York Giants on Tuesday.
Previously at Ohio State before transferring to Syracuse for the 2024 season, McCord delivered impressive results in his lone year with the Orange.
He completed 66% of his passes for 4,779 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions across 13 games, and added three rushing touchdowns.
Bleacher Report NFL scout Dame Parson has compared McCord’s style and potential to that of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Currently, McCord is projected to be selected somewhere between the second and fourth rounds, and the Steelers are shaping up as a team to keep an eye on.
