Tottenham are currently front-runners to sign Lille’s Angel Gomes this summer, according to sources speaking to Football Insider.

But they’re not alone—clubs from France, Spain, and Germany are also pushing to land the 24-year-old before the next season.

Gomes has been outstanding for both Lille and England this campaign, cementing his status as one of Europe’s hottest prospects as his contract nears expiry in June.

This follows reports from ex-Spurs scout Mick Brown, who revealed that Tottenham have already held discussions with Gomes’ representatives and are working to speed up the move.

Meanwhile, Gomes has rejected a contract proposal from West Ham, who aren’t anticipated to make another bid at this stage.

Sources suggest the midfielder isn’t swayed by the Hammers’ offer and is now weighing up his next move.

Earlier this month, Football Insider reported that Tottenham are ‘very interested’ in signing Gomes, with manager Ange Postecoglou a known admirer of the midfielder.

Spurs scouts have been closely tracking his performances all season, monitoring his development.

The Manchester United academy product has been in high demand since shining in his four England appearances under Lee Carsley earlier this term.

However, Football Insider exclusively revealed that United have no plans to bring Gomes back and are focusing on other targets—giving Tottenham a clear path in their pursuit.

After five years at Lille, Gomes has made 134 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, refining his game and positioning himself for a potential Premier League return.

Postecoglou is eyeing a midfield revamp this summer, with Gomes a key target, as several current players could depart.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider (15 March) that the club is open to selling Yves Bissouma following discussions about his future. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur may also exit amid interest from Atletico Madrid, with Postecoglou reportedly unsatisfied with his midfield options.

As a result, Tottenham are prioritizing a new central midfielder in the upcoming window, aiming to bolster the squad after a lackluster season.
