Fresh off their Super Bowl victory, the Philadelphia Eagles aim to sustain their success, but they face potential departures in free agency, including key defensive linemen Josh Sweat and Milton Williams.

To stay competitive, general manager Howie Roseman is reportedly exploring major moves. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Eagles have shown interest in Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett, possibly prioritizing a blockbuster addition over retaining some of their current players.

“Garrett could be this year’s version of Saquon Barkley for Howie (Roseman, the Eagles general manager),” an NFL GM told Russini. “He’s an impact add and isn’t a free-agent overpay. Howie’s not afraid to try stuff, and it fits where they are as a team.”

Myles Garrett has requested a trade from Cleveland, as a new contract alone won’t meet his demands. He reportedly doubts the Browns’ championship prospects and their long-term vision, pushing for a move to a contender like the Eagles in pursuit of a Super Bowl.

With two years remaining on his current deal, any team looking to acquire Garrett, including Philadelphia, will need to negotiate a new contract to manage the cap hits from his massive deal.

How Eagles Can Trade For Myles Garrett And Re-Sign Zack Baun

The Philadelphia Eagles are once again making bold offseason moves. Reports from the 2025 Scouting Combine in Indianapolis indicate the team is targeting former Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett to strengthen their edge defense.

However, acquiring Garrett would require significant trade assets and could impact the Eagles’ ability to retain key free agents, including standout linebacker Zack Baun.

Baun, who joined Philadelphia on a one-year deal, exceeded expectations by becoming a first-team All-Pro with over 150 tackles—one of the best seasons for an Eagles linebacker in franchise history.

While he’s set to test free agency, the Eagles have a financial pathway to both extend Baun and trade for Garrett.

Garrett, entering the final two years of his five-year, $125 million contract, carries a manageable cap hit of $19 million this season and $20 million next year.

A potential contract extension could further ease cap concerns, allowing Philadelphia to retain Baun on a deal exceeding $15 million annually. The numbers align, and if the Eagles choose to pursue both, they have the means to make it happen.
