Arsenal undoubtedly need a more clinical striker than Gabriel Jesus or Kai Havertz, according to Gunners legend Martin Keown.

Mikel Arteta’s team showcased their best form last night with a 3-0 victory over Monaco in the Champions League, a strong response after their 1-1 draw with Fulham over the weekend.

Bukayo Saka scored twice, with Havertz adding a third, while Jesus delivered a solid performance in a rare start for the north London side.

After the match, Keown acknowledged the positive impact Jesus has had on the team but emphasized that neither he nor Havertz provides the consistent goal-scoring Arsenal need.

Although Havertz has performed well, given that he is not a natural striker, Jesus has largely failed to live up to expectations since his move from Manchester City.

It seems likely that Arteta is contemplating a change, and Keown has made it clear that a more dependable goal-scorer is now a necessity for Arsenal.

“We talk about Havertz and Jesus – they need to score more goals and be more ruthless,” Keown said on punditry duty with TNT Sports, as quoted by the Metro.

“I think they could do with that different tool in the box, that player who can find an opportunity out of nothing.

“Jesus has come with a lot of experience, he has bought a lot to the group, but he wants his goals on the pitch.

“He has played his part but Arsenal need that prolific goalscorer to put these opportunities away.”

Arsenal fans would likely concur, as the team often appears overly dependent on Saka to deliver in attack, with no player in the squad seeming capable of scoring 25-30 goals in a season.
