Manchester United remain heavily linked with potential signings following Ruben Amorim’s appointment from Sporting Lisbon last month.
With the Red Devils embarking on another rebuild to revive their pursuit of success, one player reportedly on their radar is Lecce’s promising youngster Patrick Dorgu—a move that could pose a challenge to Luke Shaw’s position.
United endured a dismal start to the season under Erik ten Hag, leading to the Dutchman’s dismissal at the end of October.
Amorim’s arrival has sparked numerous transfer rumors, and the Portuguese manager is believed to have his sights set on Dorgu, described as an “absurd talent” by TBR Football.
The report suggests United are considering adding Dorgu to their roster of young talents, including Amad Diallo, Leny Yoro, Alejandro Garnacho, and Kobbie Mainoo. Known for his inclination to nurture young players, Amorim reportedly sees Dorgu as a valuable addition, with the club said to be “huge admirers” of the 20-year-old.

Dorgu has caught the attention of Manchester United scouts several times over the past year, and more recently, his performances have been closely monitored. With the managerial change at Old Trafford, Amorim may now be keen to pursue a deal for the young talent.
The 20-year-old has impressed United’s scouts, who were particularly taken with his abilities, which comes at a crucial time as the club looks to strengthen their options on the left side of midfield.
Originally a left-back, Dorgu has been deployed as a right-winger for Lecce this season, scoring three goals in 14 Serie A appearances.
While United are satisfied with Amad Diallo in that position, the recurring injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia make Dorgu a valuable backup option in that area.
Dorgu would be an excellent fit for the left side of Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. While Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City have also shown interest, Manchester United are strongly in the running to sign the star.
If the Red Devils move forward with a transfer, Dorgu is expected to cost around £30 million to join Old Trafford and play under their new Portuguese manager.
