Ruud van Nistelrooy is planning to strengthen Leicester City’s squad during the January 2025 transfer window.
Although the window is still weeks away, the Foxes are already being connected to several potential signings.
A return to King Power Stadium for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been suggested, as the midfielder has struggled for game time since his summer move to Chelsea.
To address defensive vulnerabilities, Leicester may target Ben Godfrey in January, hoping to stabilize a backline currently among the Premier League’s weakest.
The club is also eyeing Ezechiel Banzuzi in a £12m deal. However, adding another midfielder might not be a priority, given the squad’s other urgent needs.
One key area requiring attention is the attack, as Abdul Fatawu’s long-term injury has left van Nistelrooy short on options for his forward line.
While a potential solution to this issue has emerged with a recent player link, a January transfer for the target appears highly unlikely.
Leicester City has been linked with an interest in Watford midfielder Giorgi Chakvetadze, according to a report this week.
Football League World stated that the Foxes, along with Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, are monitoring the 25-year-old attacking midfielder.
Chakvetadze has primarily featured as a number 10 this season but has shown his versatility by playing as a left-winger and even a striker for the Hornets.
With four assists and one goal in the Championship so far, he could have been a valuable rotation player and a potential long-term replacement for Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte.
However, Leicester City News has provided an exclusive update, revealing it is highly unlikely that Chakvetadze will leave Watford in January. The Foxes may need to explore other options to strengthen their attacking line.
Another potential target for the Midlands club as an alternative to Giorgi Chakvetadze is Manchester City midfielder James McAtee.
Leicester previously attempted to sign McAtee in 2023, even hosting him at their training ground, but were unable to finalize a deal.
The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and has since returned to Manchester City for the current campaign.
With their chances of signing Chakvetadze now looking slim, Leicester could revisit their interest in McAtee, who was linked with the Foxes again last month.
