LeBron Says Celtics Got Jrue Holiday for ‘Bag of Lays Potato Chips’

LeBron James, the renowned Los Angeles Lakers basketball player, expanded his off-court endeavors with the launch of his new podcast, "Mind the Game," alongside former NBA player-turned-ESPN personality JJ Redick.

In the inaugural episode, James and Redick covered various topics, including James' insightful comments on the Boston Celtics.

James particularly commended Boston's standout forward, Jayson Tatum, highlighting his exceptional talent in consistently clinching victories.

At just 25 years old, Tatum has already amassed an impressive track record, having reached four conference finals and one NBA Finals appearance, earning him James' praise for his "elite" performance.

James then hit a few former Celtics with a bit of a stray, mentioning that “personnel helps” while giving a candid evaluation of his thoughts on the Celtics’ trade for Jrue Holiday.

“Like I said, personnel helps. Adding [Kristaps] Porziņģis and getting Jrue [Holiday] for a bag of Lays potato chips, that helps as well,” James said.

It's reasonable to assume that Malcolm Brogdon and Robert Williams, who were part of the trade for Holiday, were caught off guard by the news on an ordinary Tuesday morning.

Additionally, the Celtics had to include two first-round draft picks (the 2024 pick via the Golden State Warriors and an unprotected pick in 2029) along with the two players in exchange for Holiday.

Holiday has seamlessly integrated into Boston's lineup, and the addition of Porziņģis has contributed to what is likely to be the Celtics' best regular season record since the 2007–08 season, when they finished with a record of 66–16. With a current record of 54–14, Boston holds a 10-game lead in the Eastern Conference.
