Tottenham are nearing the appointment of Thomas Frank as their new manager, according to Football Insider sources.

The club is prepared to pay Frank’s £10million release clause from Brentford to secure a replacement for Ange Postecoglou.

Initial discussions have occurred, with Spurs aiming to finalize the deal within the next week. The north London side is confident that Frank is eager to join and can elevate a squad that recently ended a 17-year trophy drought.

Tottenham announced Postecoglou’s sacking on Friday evening, following Football Insider’s exclusive report last Sunday about the club’s decision to part ways with the Australian.

The club has been exploring managerial options for months, with Frank emerging as the top candidate, ahead of Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.

On June 4, Football Insider reported that the 51-year-old Dane is the frontrunner for the role.

Talks have intensified recently, and Tottenham could soon make a formal approach. The club is increasingly impressed by Frank’s Premier League experience and his ability to develop players, key factors in their search for a new manager.

Frank has led Brentford since 2018, guiding them to promotion from the Championship in 2021 and maintaining their top-flight status, with a tenth-place finish last season.

Tottenham’s statement on Postecoglou’s exit emphasized their ambition to compete across all competitions next season, after the Australian prioritized the Europa League over the Premier League, leading to a disappointing 17th-place finish with 22 losses in 38 games.

Frank’s departure would leave Brentford searching for a new manager while several of their key players face uncertain futures due to transfer interest.
