The Miami Dolphins have endured a difficult offseason, seemingly losing more talent than they’ve managed to retain or acquire.

With limited cap space, rebuilding the roster while staying competitive in the Super Bowl race has been a major challenge.

The team has already lost key contributors, including wide receiver River Cracraft, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks.

While Cracraft wasn’t a star during his three seasons in Miami—recording 25 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns in 29 games—his impact went beyond statistics.

He was a respected locker-room presence and a favorite among veterans like Jaylen Waddle, who expressed his frustration over the move on social media.

General manager Chris Grier’s decisions, or lack thereof, have drawn criticism from both fans and players, creating a noticeable divide between the locker room and the front office.

With limited free-agency options remaining, the Dolphins may have to rely on a strong 2025 NFL Draft to reshape their roster and remain competitive next season.

Former Dolphins Quarterback in Discussions With Vikings

After missing the entire 2024 NFL season, former Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill is looking to revive his career this offseason. According to a recent report, the Minnesota Vikings could be a potential landing spot for the veteran signal-caller.

According to Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports, “The Vikings have had discussions with former (Tennessee) Titans QB Ryan Tannehill about a potential deal. Talks are ongoing and nothing is imminent as of right now.”

The Miami Dolphins selected Ryan Tannehill with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, and he left the franchise as one of its most prolific passers. Ranking third in team history behind Hall of Famers Dan Marino and Bob Griese, Tannehill amassed 20,434 passing yards and 123 touchdown passes over six seasons. However, despite flashes of brilliance, he never fully lived up to his first-round expectations and was eventually traded.

The Dolphins dealt Tannehill and a 2019 sixth-round pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a 2020 fourth-rounder and a 2019 seventh-rounder. Now, with reports linking him to the Minnesota Vikings, a reunion with the field could be on the horizon. While the latest update notes that “nothing is imminent,” the move makes sense.

Minnesota needs a veteran presence to support J.J. McCarthy, but they don’t want a full-fledged quarterback battle in training camp. For Tannehill, embracing a mentorship role could extend his career, offering a chance to contribute while remaining just one injury or poor start away from reclaiming a starting job. However, he must accept that his days as an undisputed QB1 may be over—a realization that eluded him last season when he held out for a starting opportunity that never materialized. Perhaps a year away from the game has reshaped his outlook.
