Club want to agree permanent sale with West Ham for loanee – report
West Ham midfielder Carlos Soler could secure a permanent move to the club, as Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly seeking an agreement, according to Daily Mail Sports.
The newspaper’s print edition (page 5, 20 January) revealed that the French side is eager to finalize a deal for the on-loan player. Meanwhile, L’Equipe reported on 19 January that PSG has long anticipated the Hammers activating his £16.9 million buyout clause.
Soler, the Spanish international, has played 17 Premier League matches this season, contributing one goal and one assist.
The former Valencia player was initially considered more of a Julen Lopetegui signing than one favored by Tim Steidten, leaving questions about his future at the London Stadium following Lopetegui’s dismissal.
However, the 28-year-old has appeared in all three games under new manager Graham Potter, scoring in the 3-2 victory against Fulham on 14 January. His recent performances could encourage West Ham to expedite a permanent deal.
Given PSG’s reasonable £16.9 million asking price for such an experienced midfielder, the move seems logical.
Soler is already familiar with the club and is a full Spanish international, making this transfer a practical decision in a market where fees are often inflated.
Securing Soler would also allow Potter to allocate funds to address other priorities, such as strengthening the defence and signing a much-needed striker.

Manchester City eye fourth January deal in loan move for Douglas Luiz – report
Manchester City are considering a potential loan move for Douglas Luiz as the Premier League champions assess their midfield options this month.
Pep Guardiola has faced a shortage of quality cover in the No. 6 role following Rodri’s season-ending anterior cruciate ligament injury in September, compounded by Mateo Kovacic’s ongoing fitness issues.
While City are admirers of Atalanta and Brazil midfielder Ederson, prying the 25-year-old away from the Serie A title contenders during the current transfer window appears unlikely. As a result, the club is exploring alternative options.
Luiz, 26, has struggled for game time at Juventus since joining from Aston Villa for £42 million last summer and is reportedly available this month. Juventus are said to prefer either a permanent sale or a loan with an obligation to buy, while City would favor a straightforward loan without additional conditions if they proceed with the deal.
Though Luiz is not City’s top target, he is a familiar name, having previously been on their books from 2017 to 2019. With Premier League experience under his belt, he could fit the club’s need for an immediate impact player.
City have also shown interest in Juventus left-back Andrea Cambiaso but are unlikely to pursue a deal for him during this window.
Luiz, who has been linked with Arsenal in the past, joined City from Vasco da Gama in 2017 but spent two seasons on loan at Girona in Spain due to work permit issues in the UK. He later spent five seasons at Aston Villa, scoring 22 goals in 204 appearances for the club.
City’s £120m January splurge
Manchester City’s emphatic 6-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Sunday propelled Pep Guardiola’s side back into the Premier League’s top four. The manager is keen to secure the right midfield addition this month, alongside the club’s other ongoing transfer activities.
Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush is set to arrive in Manchester within the next 24 hours for a medical, as City aim to finalize his £59 million transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt. Additionally, the club is working on deals for centre-backs Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis, from Lens and Palmeiras respectively, valued at £33.6 million and £29.4 million.
Meanwhile, City captain Kyle Walker is hopeful that his potential move to AC Milan will gain traction this week, although the Italian club had yet to submit a formal offer by Monday morning.
“Everyone knows that Walker is a great player, he did great things at City,” Milan’s senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic told DAZN when asked about Walker before Saturday’s defeat by Juventus.
“When there is someone like him on the market there is a lot of interest. It doesn’t go against our vision, because he is strong, he is a leader, he has dominance in the dressing room. Now we are checking if it is possible.
“We talk to [coach Sergio] Conceicao every day, to have a dialogue with him and understand what he likes and what he doesn’t like. We know what is needed and now we work. The team is strong. What do we need? In the transfer market, the more I say it, the more it costs, better not to say it.
“The team, as I said, is already strong. We showed in the Super Cup that it is a team that can win, now we need continuity.”

Chelsea ready talks with Everton over Chilwell and Dewsbury-Hall – report
The Merseyside club is actively assessing options in the loan market and intends to inquire about the availability of both players during the January transfer window.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s time at Chelsea has fallen short of expectations following his summer move from Leicester City, where he reunited with former manager Enzo Maresca.
Similarly, Ben Chilwell has had minimal game time this season, managing just 45 minutes across all competitions, which came in Chelsea’s 5-0 League Cup win against Barrow.
Everton has already filled their quota of four loan signings for the season, but the potential departure of Armando Broja would open up a slot for one of the Chelsea players.
With their January transfer funds limited by profitability and sustainability regulations, the Toffees are eager to create room for a loan deal before the window closes.
Additionally, CaughtOffside reports that while there is a broad agreement with Lyon for the permanent signing of Ernest Nuamah, the deal is still pending final approval from David Moyes. Personal terms are not expected to present any complications.
Everton’s attempt to return Armando Broja hits stumbling block
Everton’s attempt to recall Armando Broja from his loan spell has hit a snag, as Chelsea is now requesting compensation for the striker’s return.
David Moyes recently disclosed that the club is contemplating ending Broja’s season-long loan after the forward was ruled out for 10 to 12 weeks with a significant ankle injury.
Broja made the move to Everton last summer despite already recovering from an Achilles injury that had previously disrupted a potential transfer to Ipswich.
As part of the agreement, Chelsea committed to covering the Albanian international’s wages during his recovery.

Brighton now make contact over signing Cummings – report
The Seagulls are gearing up for an active January transfer window, aiming to bolster their squad in several key areas as Fabian Hurzeler seeks to revive their season following a disappointing spell of form.
With Evan Ferguson’s future at the American Express Stadium uncertain, Brighton is prioritizing the addition of a young striker and has identified Daniel Cummings as a potential acquisition this month.
However, Cummings isn’t the only forward on their radar. Brighton is also competing with Liverpool for FC Nuremberg’s Stefanos Tzimas, whose impressive displays in Bundesliga II have caught their attention.
Securing a new striker could prove essential if Ferguson departs, but Hurzeler is equally focused on shoring up the defense. The manager has reportedly set his sights on a fresh defensive target.
According to The Daily Mail, Brighton has expressed interest in signing Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo, just seven months after the player’s move to Stamford Bridge.
Adarabioyo, earning £120,000 per week, has seen consistent action for Chelsea this season but has only started seven Premier League matches. The Seagulls are keen to secure a permanent deal and have reached out to their top-flight rivals to formalize their interest.
It remains uncertain whether Chelsea will approve the transfer. However, reports suggest that selling Adarabioyo could significantly aid the Blues in meeting financial regulations, potentially incentivizing them to strike a deal.
Tosin could be a quality signing
Tosin Adarabioyo has established himself as a reliable Premier League defender over the years. Recently, he has become a regular presence in Chelsea’s lineup, earning his place in Enzo Maresca’s plans. Known for his aerial strength, the Englishman ranks in the 82nd percentile for aerial duels won per 90 minutes over the past year, a quality that has drawn praise from journalist Zach Lowy.
While it might seem unusual for Chelsea to part ways with the 27-year-old so soon after signing him, the club could secure a full profit since they acquired him on a free transfer last summer. Considering Adarabioyo’s strong defensive capabilities, Brighton would do well to position themselves as frontrunners for his signature if he becomes available during this transfer window.
