Irish striker Johnny Kenny looks poised to break into Celtic’s first team following an outstanding loan spell at Shamrock Rovers.
The 21-year-old, who joined Celtic from Sligo Rovers in January 2022, has impressed Brendan Rodgers with his goal-scoring prowess, particularly in European competitions.
During his second loan stint with Shamrock Rovers, Kenny has had a stellar season, netting 18 goals across all competitions.
His performances have been instrumental in Rovers’ domestic success and their strong UEFA Europa Conference League campaign, where he delivered crucial goals against Rapid Vienna, Larne, and The New Saints.
According to the Daily Mail, Kenny’s exceptional form has earned him a likely promotion to Celtic’s senior squad.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, eager to enhance the team’s attacking options, views Kenny as a promising addition to complement strikers Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah.
Rodgers has a track record of nurturing talent from the League of Ireland, with Liam Scales becoming a key player under his guidance.
Kenny, under contract with Celtic until 2026, is set to return to Parkhead in January.
Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers’ upcoming Europa Conference League matches against Borac Banja Luka and Chelsea will offer the young forward additional chances to showcase his abilities on the European stage.
