Bayern could make “serious” £50m bid for 25y/o attacker – report
Bayern could make “serious” £50m bid for 25y/o attacker – report

The urgency for Manchester United to bring in new players has never been greater—not just any signings, but those ready to make an immediate impact.

The addition of the unpredictable yet talented Matheus Cunha is seen as a relatively low-risk move. Similarly, the ongoing pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, while drawn out, targets another proven Premier League performer.

Although neither has experienced the intense scrutiny of playing in front of 70,000 fans at Old Trafford every other week, both have shown they can cope with the physical and mental demands of English football.

However, manager Ruben Amorim faces a significant hurdle: if United do manage to secure Mbeumo, no further funds will be available for additional signings unless players are sold.

The squad is already top-heavy with attacking options, making further additions impractical without outgoings.

Currently, five players have expressed a desire to leave the club. There are also lingering concerns about the long-term suitability of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund to lead United’s frontline. While both possess the right mindset, neither has consistently delivered performances that justify their hefty transfer fees or salaries.

One of the most high-profile potential departures is Marcus Rashford, who has reportedly attracted interest from Bayern Munich following Leroy Sané’s exit. Rashford is a familiar name to both Vincent Kompany and Harry Kane, and Bayern are among the few clubs with the financial power to sign him.

Barcelona are also monitoring Rashford’s situation, especially after their pursuit of Nico Williams fell through. That said, Liverpool’s Luis Díaz is believed to be their top target, which could impact Rashford’s chances of a move to Camp Nou.

Should United decide to negotiate with Bayern, they may find an opportunity to offload a player who is no longer committed to the club while bringing in someone with a decorated track record.

Enter Kingsley Coman: the French winger has an exceptional résumé, having won league titles in 12 of the past 13 seasons across France, Italy, and Germany. His trophy cabinet also includes a Champions League title, a Club World Cup, and runners-up medals in both the World Cup and European Championship—making him a potential asset of real pedigree for United.

Kingsley Coman could offer exactly the kind of experience Ruben Amorim is looking for—though the player himself doesn’t seem to be planning a move just yet. Speaking recently, Coman said: “No one has told me I need to leave. I’d like to stay. The coach has always said he counts on me. I still have two years left on my contract—but in football, nothing is ever 100% certain.”

Despite his intentions, speculation is growing that Coman may follow Leroy Sané out of Bayern Munich, potentially to Turkey. And with Bayern showing serious interest in Marcus Rashford, the door could open for Coman’s exit. If that happens, United’s technical director Jason Wilcox would be wise to act quickly.

One possible complication is Jamal Musiala’s recent injury, which might prompt Bayern to hesitate before letting another attacker go. Still, from United’s perspective, that’s not their concern.

If Manchester United are serious about closing the gap on the Premier League’s top clubs, they need to be signing players who would be starters in those rival teams. Coman, with his elite-level experience and winning mentality, fits that profile perfectly.
