Bayern Munich are keen on signing Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, but could shift their focus to Arsenal’s Leandro Trossard if they can’t land their top target.
Both Bayern and Barcelona have shown strong interest in Diaz this summer, but so far, neither club has made significant progress in negotiations.
Liverpool are reluctant to part ways with the Colombian winger and would only consider letting him go if a substantial offer comes in.
Diaz, 28, has been open about potentially leaving Anfield, but he’s also said he would be happy to stay—provided the club comes forward with an improved contract offer.
With Diaz proving to be a costly option, Bayern are exploring alternatives and have reportedly turned their attention to Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard, according to BILD.
At 30, Trossard would come at a much lower price, and Arsenal are said to be open to offers for the Belgian as they reshape their squad.
The Gunners have been very active in the transfer window, already completing signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, and Christian Norgaard in deals totaling around £70 million.
Chelsea’s Noni Madueke is expected to join next, and negotiations are ongoing for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal also have their eyes on Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera and Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.
To fund this ambitious spending spree, Arsenal will likely need to offload several players. Trossard is among those considered surplus to requirements, with the club reportedly willing to accept offers in the region of £20 million—significantly less than Diaz’s potential price tag.
Other players who could be on their way out include Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Jakub Kiwior, as Arsenal look to balance the books.
As for Diaz, while a move remains uncertain, he’s made it clear that the next step depends on Liverpool’s willingness to offer him a new deal—his current contract runs through 2027.
Speaking last month of Barcelona’s interest in him, he said: ‘I’m very happy there at Liverpool, I’ve always said so. They’ve welcomed me very well.
‘We’re in contact with them [Liverpool] right now because we’re obviously talking to clubs. It’s normal.
‘The transfer market is opening, and we’re trying to arrange what’s best for us.’
When asked about renewing his contract with Liverpool, Diaz replied: ‘As I told you, I’m waiting for it to happen.
‘If Liverpool gives us a good renewal or I get the two years I need with them, I’ll be happy and content.
‘It all depends on them, I’m just here to decide and look at what’s best for us.’
