Arsenal 'ready to offer' £62m to sign Euro star as Arteta eyes ambitious swoop - report

In Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United, it became evident that Mikel Arteta needs to bolster the team’s attacking options.

Despite Bukayo Saka being available, discussions persisted about Arsenal’s need for a reliable striker—widely regarded as the missing link in their title aspirations.

While Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have delivered impressive moments this season, it’s clear that Arteta’s team could benefit from a proven goal scorer.

Jesus, despite netting six goals in six games, has a prior record in north London that suggests this form might be temporary. Similarly, Havertz is having a solid season by his own standards, but his contributions alone may not be enough to secure the Premier League title.

The significance of having a player like Alexander Isak was underlined during Arsenal’s Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle.

Isak not only scored the visitors’ opening goal at the Emirates but also played a key role in setting up the second with his smart play.

According to Mail Sport, Arsenal are still keen on signing Isak, with plans to make a bid in the summer. The club has long been linked with the Swedish international, despite Newcastle’s resistance to selling him.

Given Isak’s contract runs until 2028, Newcastle are in a strong position to negotiate. However, Arsenal have shown a willingness to invest heavily in top talent, as seen in their £100m acquisition of Declan Rice, and may explore creative solutions in the market to fund such a deal.

That said, there’s no guarantee Arsenal will secure Isak, as Newcastle might outright refuse to sell. In that scenario, Arsenal are reportedly considering a more affordable alternative—the player intended to replace Viktor Gyökeres at Sporting CP.

It’s evident that Arsenal are eager to continue strengthening their squad, but fans are also hoping for immediate progress. On that front, a potential replacement for Saka might already be close at hand, located in London.

Fabrizio Romano Shares Interesting Arsenal January Transfer Update

Arsenal are actively monitoring the January transfer market and may be prepared to make a significant signing if an admired player becomes available, Fabrizio Romano has exclusively shared with GIVEMESPORT.

Although the Gunners have yet to take action in the winter window, they are proceeding cautiously while keeping a close eye on market developments.

One player on Arsenal’s radar is Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, but securing the Brazilian this month could prove challenging given his key role at Molineux.

According to Romano, Wolves are unlikely to make negotiations easy for any club interested in Cunha, including Arsenal, who were linked with the 25-year-old in December.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano stated that while Arsenal hold Cunha in high regard, they do not expect straightforward discussions with Wolves if they decide to pursue him during the January window.

“In case there will be an opportunity, we had many links these days with Matheus Cunha, he is a player they like.

“But at the moment, Wolves are not going to make it anything easy, because he is a crucial player for them, so it’s not going to be an easy negotiation.

“But just in general, in case, a player appreciated by Arsenal appears on the market and could be available at a good fee, I think Arsenal could be ready.”

Mikel Arteta’s team is reportedly exploring options in the transfer market to strengthen their attack following Bukayo Saka’s injury, which will likely sideline him for at least two months after hamstring surgery.

During the summer, Arsenal were strongly linked with signing a new wide forward but instead prioritized investments in Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, later securing Raheem Sterling on loan just before the transfer deadline.

Recent reports indicate that Arsenal may once again look to the loan market in January to reinforce their attacking options.

However, they are restricted from signing additional players on loan from Premier League clubs, having already brought in Sterling and Neto during the previous window.
