Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, as current backup Neto is expected to leave the club next summer.
David Raya remains Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, but manager Mikel Arteta may look to strengthen the squad with more reliable cover following Aaron Ramsdale’s transfer to Southampton earlier this season.
According to the Italian outlet Tuttosport, cited by TEAMtalk, Arsenal are targeting Carnesecchi for the backup role, given Neto’s likely departure.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is currently on loan from Bournemouth but was primarily brought in as a short-term solution.
Carnesecchi, 24, represents a younger option who could potentially challenge Raya for the starting spot in the future.
Arsenal’s frequent goalkeeper changes under Arteta have included Bernd Leno, who was the first-choice when Arteta arrived, and Emiliano Martinez, who had a brief but successful stint during the 2020 FA Cup-winning campaign before moving to Aston Villa for regular playing time.
Leno lost his spot to Ramsdale, who had an outstanding 2022/23 season but was later benched following Raya’s arrival for the 2023/24 campaign.
Other goalkeepers like Matt Turner have also joined and departed during this period, while Neto, who replaced Ramsdale this summer, seems set for a short tenure at the Emirates.
Chelsea already planning January deal with Arsenal as ace set for move across London
With the January transfer window fast approaching, Arsenal are reportedly preparing to make a move for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Chelsea are open to offers for the 26-year-old, as he has struggled to meet expectations, and the club is looking to recoup their investment. Manager Enzo Maresca has already listed two Chelsea players for sale, while another has been suspended. Dewsbury-Hall, who has made just five Premier League appearances out of 14 in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt), needs more regular playing time.
Despite being deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, Dewsbury-Hall has attracted significant interest from several clubs. Arsenal, having recently completed a transfer deal with Chelsea for Raheem Sterling’s summer loan, are reportedly the frontrunners for his signature, according to SportzHighlights sources.
However, they face competition from a host of other clubs, including Leicester City, Fulham, Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, and Manchester United, all monitoring the situation closely.
Once a key player for Leicester City under Maresca, Dewsbury-Hall’s standing has declined at Chelsea due to increased competition for places. A transfer would likely benefit all parties, offering the midfielder a chance to revive his career while providing the buying club with a promising talent.
If Dewsbury-Hall decides to make the move, it could prove to be a pivotal moment in his career, allowing him to secure regular minutes and regain the form that made him a standout player at Leicester.
