Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has shared an injury update ahead of their upcoming clash against Bournemouth, including the latest on Dominic Solanke.

Thursday night turned into a nightmare for Spurs as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League round of sixteen, leaving them with an uphill battle in the second leg to keep their trophy ambitions alive.

Lucas Bergvall’s first-half own goal ultimately decided the match, though AZ had opportunities to extend their lead, including a chance for former Spurs striker Troy Parrott.

It was a disappointing performance from Tottenham, who struggled to find their rhythm, prompting Postecoglou to address his team’s lackluster display after the final whistle.

As Tottenham pushed for an equalizer, manager Ange Postecoglou introduced Dominic Solanke in the 72nd minute, marking his first appearance after a seven-week layoff due to a knee injury sustained in training.

However, Solanke’s return was short-lived. While attempting to meet a floating cross from Brennan Johnson, he collided mid-air with AZ goalkeeper Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro and fell to the ground clutching his side, leaving him unable to continue.

It was a harsh setback for the England international, who had just recovered from injury and was hoping to regain his match fitness.

With his former club Bournemouth set to visit North London on Sunday, Dominic Solanke will be eager to avoid missing more games, having been a key player for the Cherries last season before his £55 million move to Tottenham in August 2024.

When asked for an update on Solanke’s availability for the weekend clash, Ange Postecoglou remained uncertain.

Speaking to Football.London, the Spurs boss said: “No, too early to tell. Dom has a knee in the backside. It’s sore.”

Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur will be suspended for the second leg against AZ Alkmaar due to a booking but remains eligible to face Bournemouth at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
