Andy Murray's mother Judy fumes over retirement questioning

Since initially hinting that 2024 could be his last year as a professional tennis player, Andy Murray has had to field questions after every match about when he will finally call time on his illustrious career.

The Dubai Tennis Championships was no different. "I mean, I'm likely not going to play past this summer. I get asked about it after every single match that I play, every single tournament that I play," a tired looking Murray said.

"I'm bored of the question, to be honest. Yeah, I'm not going to talk more about that between now and whenever the time comes for me to stop."

Murray beat Denis Shapovalov in the first round in Dubai before succumbing to Ugo Humbert in the second round. He has won two of his eight matches so far this year.

Judy Murray defends her son

The latest bombardment of questions about the Scot's future was picked up on by his mother, Judy. She stated on X: "Every single press conference he is asked the same question.

"When he started on the Tour it was ‘ah but when are you going to win Wimbledon?’ Every single time. Let him enjoy whatever time is left of his career. He is 50 in the world, has a metal hip, a bipartite patella and four kids."
