Caleb Williams Got Unintentionally Trolled While Unwrapping Mystery Jersey

Fanatics has rolled out a new initiative called Under Wraps, an officially licensed NFL mystery box that guarantees one autographed item per box — whether that’s a football, jersey, helmet, or photo.

Caleb Williams decided to give it a try this week, hoping he might pull his own jersey. It’s a lighthearted concept that can deliver some great surprises, though it can also come with a bit of unintended irony.

Williams found that out firsthand when a video surfaced of him opening a box in-store. Instead of revealing his own name, the jersey inside belonged to someone else entirely.

It was Puka Nacua.

The Rams wide receiver is one of the league’s brightest stars, so seeing his jersey included wasn’t shocking. What made it sting was the timing — especially coming so soon after Chicago’s playoff loss to Los Angeles.

That pain was amplified by the fact Nacua played a decisive role in that defeat, hauling in a crucial 16-yard catch on third-and-six in overtime that set the Rams up for the game-winning field goal. Williams’ calm reaction to the reveal said everything.

Chicago won’t face the Rams in the regular season next year, but with Los Angeles a near lock to return to the playoffs, another meeting isn’t out of the question. If Williams wants revenge, he’ll need to guide the Bears back into the postseason himself.

He’s already made it clear this offseason will be about sharpening his footwork and accuracy — two areas that occasionally held him back despite an impressive campaign. When September rolls around, expect him to come back driven and focused, with that loss still fresh in his mind.

If Nacua and the Rams cross paths with Williams again, they may be facing a very different version of this Bears team. Still, the moment itself is undeniably amusing — perhaps the football gods’ way of keeping a rising star grounded.

One thing’s certain: while Williams enjoys some downtime before spring, the Rams aren’t far from his thoughts. And judging by his mindset, he’s likely to return in peak condition, sharper and more motivated than ever. Beneath the calm exterior, the competitive fire is obvious.
