Excruciating moment rapper Ja Rule smashes golf ball straight into crowd at Derek Jeter’s charity tournament

Rapper Ja Rule narrowly avoided a serious mishap after a wayward tee shot veered into spectators during Derek Jeter’s charity golf tournament.

Video filmed from close range shows the artist preparing to hit while surrounded by onlookers at the tee box in the Bahamas.

“I have to ignore y’all right now, I have to put this thing up,” he said as he addressed the ball.

Instead of sailing cleanly down the fairway, the shot stayed low and sliced right, heading straight toward a cluster of nearby photographers.

Ja Rule quickly issued an apology as people in the crowd flinched and moved back in alarm. Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries.

The moment was recorded by Golfweek reporter Adam Schupak, who had spoken with the rapper just a day earlier. During that conversation, Ja Rule shared that he began playing golf during the pandemic and soon developed a strong passion for the game.

“Tell them I’m the best hip-hop golfer,” he had joked to Schupak shortly before nearly striking him with the errant shot.

The Derek Jeter Invitational, hosted by the former baseball superstar, has once again drawn high-profile names to the Caribbean.

Past participants include sports legends such as Bryson DeChambeau, Michael Jordan, and Michael Strahan, along with musicians like Ludacris and Flo Rida.

The tournament supports the Turn 2 Foundation, an organization dedicated “to create and support signature programs and activities that motivate young people to turn away from drugs and alcohol and ‘Turn 2’ healthy lifestyles.”
