Tottenham are preparing a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, according to talkSPORT sources.

Wissa is open to the idea of reuniting with his former manager, Thomas Frank, at Spurs.

Brentford have set Wissa’s valuation at around £40 million, but the club’s decision may ultimately depend on what happens with Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo has attracted strong interest from Manchester United, who are currently negotiating a fee and payment structure with Brentford. The 25-year-old winger has already agreed personal terms with United, reportedly worth £250,000 per week, and has made it clear that Old Trafford is his preferred destination.

After both Wissa and Mbeumo delivered outstanding performances last season—scoring 19 and 20 league goals respectively—Brentford are understandably hesitant to part with both players in the same transfer window.

Earlier this year, Nottingham Forest made a £22 million offer for Wissa, but it was quickly turned down by the London club.

When asked about Forest’s bid by talkSPORT in January, Frank replied: “Good luck! That will not happen.”

Brentford’s stance on Yoane Wissa is heavily influenced by the fact that the 28-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the 2025/26 season.

If the club decides to sell him this summer or during the January transfer window, they could secure a significant return on the £7.2 million they paid to sign him from Lorient in August 2021.

The 2025/26 season marks a transitional period for Brentford, who will be led by a new manager for the first time since October 2018. Following Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham, the club chose to promote from within, appointing set-piece coach Keith Andrews as head coach.

This will be Andrews’ first job in charge of a team, having previously served as an assistant at MK Dons, the Republic of Ireland national team, and Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank is preparing for the biggest role of his managerial career at Spurs. Named as Ange Postecoglou’s successor in June, the Danish coach has already added two players to the squad: Mathys Tel on a permanent deal and Japanese defender Kota Takai.

A third signing could soon follow. Tottenham recently saw a £50 million bid for West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus turned down. The Hammers reportedly rejected the offer due to the structure of the deal, which included performance-based add-ons triggered only if Spurs won the Premier League or Champions League.

Given Tottenham haven’t lifted the league title since 1960/61 and have never won the Champions League, the proposed terms were seen as overly ambitious.

Nonetheless, Kudus is said to be eager to make the switch from east to north London, meaning a deal could still be on the horizon.
