Leon King is on the verge of leaving Rangers permanently, just days after starting in a pre-season friendly against Club Brugge.
The 21-year-old centre-back has had limited first-team opportunities in recent seasons and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Queen’s Park in the Scottish Championship.
He has long been linked with a move away from Ibrox, with several English clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. Now, it appears that a transfer is finally set to happen.
According to the Daily Mail, King is expected to join League One side Wycombe Wanderers on a permanent deal.
Wycombe came close to securing promotion to the Championship last season, and King’s arrival will see him reunited with former Rangers teammate and academy graduate Alex Lowry. The playmaker joined the English club in January and featured nine times in League One.
Both King and Lowry were once tipped as standout talents from the Rangers academy, but now find themselves taking their next steps away from Glasgow as they look to carve out successful careers elsewhere.
King was in the starting XI during Rangers’ recent draw with Club Brugge at Ibrox, a match where the home side struggled defensively in the opening 45 minutes.
