Golden State Warriors standout Jimmy Butler recently downplayed his tenure with the Miami Heat in a series of remarks.
According to ClutchPoints, Butler shared his thoughts on the Heat ahead of the Warriors’ matchup against his former team on Tuesday (via Athlon Sports’ Andy Restrepo):
“We was alright, we didn’t win nothing like we was supposed to. We made some cool runs, we had some fun, I think that’s all we did.”
Jimmy Butler has long been known for his relentless competitiveness, and his unwavering commitment to winning was evident in his latest remarks.
Despite downplaying his time in Miami, Butler played a pivotal role in leading the Heat to two NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023.
The five-time All-NBA selection also came within one game of a third Finals trip in 2022 before falling to the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.
However, without a championship to show for his efforts, those accomplishments hold little significance for the 35-year-old. Now in Golden State, Butler has set his sights on achieving more.
The Warriors, the NBA’s most dominant franchise since the 2014-15 season, have experienced a resurgence with Butler in the lineup, posting an impressive 16-3 record during his tenure.
With Golden State emerging as a dark horse title contender, Butler will aim to lead them to another victory over the Heat on Tuesday, further fueling their momentum heading into the postseason.
