A cricket club is set to take over a town hotel this weekend with a lineup of fundraising events.

Cameron Ventures Group and Mildenhall Cricket Club are teaming up at the Riverside House Hotel in Mill Street from tonight through Sunday.

The weekend aims to raise money for the cricket club’s youth program, as well as the charities Just George and Grief Encounter.

The highlight of the event is a family fun day tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring activities like a slime lab, cornhole competition, bouncy castles, a gaming van, a toy den, a crazy animal show, a bake sale, and more.

“We’re really looking forward to a busy weekend and we can’t wait to raise funds for some worthwhile charities.

“There’s something for everyone this weekend and I want to express huge thanks to the Cameron Ventures Group for their support.”

Brian Keane, director of the Cameron Hotel Collection, said: “We’re giving the hotel over so they can raise as much money as they can for the future needs of cricket in Mildenhall.

“Rather than give a donation we thought we’d work with them on it.

“I encourage people to come down and support the cricket club. If you don’t help support these things then we risk losing them.”

Tonight, the Riverside Hotel is hosting a four-course dinner featuring former BBC political reporter John Sargeant as a guest speaker.

An auction will also take place, offering prizes such as a pair of Arsenal tickets, a signed Olly Murs shirt, a family day pass at Elveden Forest Center Parcs, a golf bundle, and more.

After tomorrow’s family event, the cricket club will hold a pre-season dinner exclusively for its members.

On Sunday, club members will start the day with breakfast, followed by a public lunch where all proceeds will go directly to the cricket club rather than the hotel.

Tony Cornell, Mildenhall Cricket Club President, said: “We have been given a wonderful opportunity to raise funds thanks to the marvellous generosity of the Riverside House Hotel management.

“I would like to thank, on behalf of the club, all the team of volunteers from the Mildenhall Cricket Club family who will be working hard in servicing the events throughout the weekend.

“Finally, I hope you enjoy your time spent at our events this weekend and remember you will always be welcomed to come to our ground and watch the cricket.”
